Lamar County Fishing Lake
A lovely lake in a beautiful wooded setting, surrounded by open pine woods, Lamar County Lake is a haven for Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, bluebirds, Chipping Sparrows, Brown-headed Nuthatches, and Pine Warblers. Late spring and summer weather attracts dispersing long-legged wading birds, which join the resident Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets. Migrating swallows join the burgeoning ranks of breeding martins and Barn and Rough-winged swallows. The woods along the entrance road are good areas for spotting woodland birds and migrants.
